The worst faculty ever

(This is the very last blog that i'm gonna writte so I'm very happy because after this I can go to my bed wi)

Well, this is a very complicated theme. First, the money of my university go to another faculties. We are the poor one. So that makes everything difficult. We study in an old building where the elevators doesn't works, we don't have any place to relax, the study rooms are uncomfortable and there are many things related to the infrastructure that are really really bad.

Related to my career, there are many things to get better. Some subjects doesn't works good. The subject of Investigation is good, but isn't very demanding. I'm very interested in that things, so I would like to work more in that.

I think that the career needs a special test, because the PSU isn't a good way to select students of music. It's not fair that people who have the abilities and don't have a good score in the PSU can't enter to the university.

The organization of the hours is very bad to. I have to wait much time between classes, and that is horrible. Also, we don't have a place to wait. It's just a builiding with no yard. We have to stay in the street. or go to another place.

In general, we study in the misery. The career have problems but nothing so bad. The building is the problem. Is decadent. The last year, an elevator fell. Also a roof (at the same is the floor of another room) fell. At least, there are some very good teachers and you can learn a lot in this place. But there is something with our dignity that we can't just ignore.

Best places to eat with Junaeb

Okay, I don't like to talk about food because I don't know nothing about it. I don't know how to do it. I'm a fucking ignorant. I don't even know the words in english to name the food. Actually, the first semester in the oral examen I have to talk about food and I was like omg i'm not gonna pass this thing haha :'(

But this is about the Junaeb, so let's talk about it. The problem with all the places that have Menu Junaeb is that is really really bad. So sad. But there's two places where the Menu Junaeb is good and healthy. Frutos and Juan Maestro. In Frutos, the menu changes every day, and is just like a home lunch, so is very comfortable to eat there. And you can get fruit and pancito. And in Juan Maestro you can buy a salad with lomito for 1300$ that is very good. This two places are very good.

And now let's talk about the shitty places. In this cases I oftenly eat in Pedro Juan y Diego, because there is a menu of 3000$ that have two hamburgers or hot dogs, two portion of french fries and two drinks. And when I'm hungry I buy something in Tarragona because of all the shitty places is the one where they give you the most biggest menu, and it's not expensive.

So that's all. I think that the Junaeb card is the most amazing thing that God could have created.

Postgraduate studies

Well, I have many ideas of what I want after finish this career.

First, there are the magister that I can do in this university. Im thinking in two: musicology and composition. The musicology is like a magister of investigation, and I feel that my "humanist" side is a little empty, so I would like to read a lot books (in this case musicology is related to anthropology, sociology and things like that) and do investigations about things that I'm interested. Also, I would like to do the composition magister because I want to do a guitarrist career, so I want to compose my own things and the magister will helps a lot.

But that's not all. After university I want to travel to Spain and study guitar there. I want to live some years, learn all that I can and come back to Chile. In flamenco is almost necesary travel to Spain because there are a lot of things that you learn only with the experience. Maybe I can do it in a few years ago, like do a semester in some university of Andalucía or something like that.

It can sounds cliche, but I think that I will always be studying. For the things that I want to do I have to study always, I can't stop practice. Also, the competition in music is high, so you have to be a very good professional.

English Language Challenges

I think that learn english is something very important for every person, because is a tool that you can use for many different things. There's a lot of books or material that is only in english, or if you want to study in another country, english can expand all your possibilities.

Well, as a student I can say that english was always in my life, because of the school. Anyways, I never learned well the language. The tests that I had in school were very easy, or you didn't need to study a lot to pass. Instead of that, I like it and I would like to learn how to speak it well.

At university, I have improved my speaking a little. We do a lot of writing and conversation, so is very useful. But if I want to learn the language well, I have to study for my own. There's a lot of vocabulary that I don't know, there's is something with the pronunciation that is always difficult, so there's a lot to study.

Outside the english classes, I don't use it. I have to admit that my motivation to study english is more an obsession. I would like to study in Spain, so I don't need the english of that. I don't know, I would like to read books in english or something like that. But after all, I know that someday this languague will gonna very useful for my career.

As a "final" blog (I still have to write another blogs :'( ) I want to say that this experiencie has been very good. The only thing I didn't like it was to come here at 8:00 of the morning haha.

I never had plans for vacations. The only thing that I know that I'm gonna do is going to loncura with a friend of mine. His family have a house in front of the beach, so is very nice to go there and look the sea so close. That is the only good thing because Loncura is very bored and the ebach is very ugly. But if you walk a bit you can go to Quintero. In Quintero you can eat a lot of things and that is great for me.

(A beach of Quintero that is very beautiful)

The other thing that I think that I'm gonna do is sstudy guitar, because I'm gonna have a lot of time so I want to relax and play a lot with no pressure.

If I think of something that I want for vacations is to travel with my family. No matter where, because y parents and my sister don't go to somewhere since very summers ago, so I only want that we can have a good vacations to relax. I would like to go to a peaceful beach. I don't like the palces with a lot of people.

And another think would be do things that I always say that I'm gonna do but I never do them. For example, I would like to study electric guitar, because is different to the things in acustic guitar. Also, I would like to compose some thing for guitar. I have some ideas but I never finsih them. And I'm gonna do execirse because I have problems with my back (it hurts a lot) so I must do something for that.

And of course I'm gonna smoke a lot of pasta.

Street Art

First, I'm not a person who look for visual art in internet or somethingh like that. It's something where I still don't go in. And for that I'm not someone that look eventually to the walls or take pictures of graffities. But I think that street art have a direct influence in our rutine, because is something that take part in the culture of everyone. Unlike academic art, the street art is present in our life. I think that we have to realize of what's happening in our space.

Personally, I think that it's a really good thing that we take advantage of the city as a place where the art it's a fundamental element of the 'urban'. In my case, I enjoy a lot to see a good work in my dayli journey. When something is done with dedication, it's very enjoyable to see it. It gives something more sensible to the buildings.

For example, this a mural near to my house, I see it every day because the bus goes by that street. Despite of that I see the same mural a long ago, I prefer that instead to see an empty wall.

This is a mural that you can see from the casino of our faculty. I don't like it a loooooot, but I prefer to see the mural instead of see only buildings. It's something that can make our landscape more 'valuable'.

I think that the only 'graffities' that I really don't like is the GARRABLANCA TRAIGAN VINO QUE COPAS SOBRAN's murals and the ones with the names of politician in campaign, haha. But the barra's murals sometimes makes me laugh, so that's a good thing. In conclusion, the worst are the murals of politic campaign.

Music

Now, I can say that music is like the 90% of my life. But this wasn't always like that. When I was a child I didn't play any instrument and I didn't listen much music. When I was thirtheen I started to play the guitar, but in a mechanical way. So I have always had to effort to learn and listen a lot of things for make that music be something natural in me.

Well, that's my little story with music. But in that little story, I have listened many styles, so I think that I'm gonna talk about that because my english it's not very enough to talk about something more complex haha.

I started to listen with more attention with rock music in general. My father recommended me some bands and I like them. Metallica, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and all that stuff. But in particular, I liked Nirvana. I still like them and I don't care that it could be understimated by the 'elite musicians' because I think that technique it's not necessary sometimes. But that's another point.

Through rock music I find many different styles and bands. I think that everyone can get an idea of that. But there's a band that a liked a lot: Radiohead. I'm not gonna say why because I don't know really, I just like them. Now I can talk about composition and all that stuff but when I was thirteen I didn't know anything about that. Maybe I liked because it's a 'depressive band'. It's funny to think about that now.

When the guitar appears I started to listen not-rock music. My uncle teached my, and he likes folclore music so I started to learn a bit about that. Also I started to study basic music theory, So, here's the point when I start to listen many differents styles of music. I watched videos of Paco de Lucía, and now I'm studying flamenco guitar.

To finish, I'm gonna share something that I've been listening a lot now. It's a brasilian musician named Chico Buarque. Hope you enjoy.

My future job

Well, in the future I would like to live of music. I mean, live of playing music, that's the dream, but no one knows what will happen, so I have another options. I would really like to be a teacher of music in a university or an institute, making classes of theory or guitar. I don't know if I would like to do classes at school, maybe I could do a music or guitar workshop. In fact, this year I was going to do a guitar workshop in my ex-school, but I couldn't because I didn't have much time. Another option is to do particular classes of guitar, and I think that I'm gonna do this for sure.

The first option it's to play and travel, but that it's like a weird job because everything it's so irregular, so I'm gonna talk about the teacher job because it's more 'secure'.

I think that I would enjoy to do classes or something like that using my instrument, so I think that the guitar classes it would be the perfect 'normal' job for me. Actually, I'm thinking go to my ex-school and do the guitar workship. Like four years ago there was a guitar workship there, and I was there. We were like ten students and we do version of songs only with guitars, and sounds very well. So, I would like to do something like that, but not only play things. My idea is to do guitar classes and also do the 'band of guitars', but I don't know if it will work. Sometimes you have much excitement for something but the rest no. Aaaand obviously, I would like to do particular classes, because if you are a good guitarrist you can charge a lot of money haha. (but always the money it's not enough)

I googled 'guitar teacher' and there are many pictures of happy people having classes but that it's not true because the teacher lives in the misery of not have money and the student lives in the misery of have to practice a lot and not be good enough so I'm very dissapointed of Google.

The last concert.

On November 23, 2013, Paco de Lucía did his last concert before that he died. And that concert was in the city of Santiago, Chile. Obiously, when I went to the concert I didn't know that it would be the last one. So, since that Paco died on February 25, 2014, the concert in Chile is something very specially for me, because I can say that I saw the last concert of someone that I admire a lot.

A picture of Paco in his last concert in Chile.

Paco de Lucía was one of the most important flamenco guitarrist, and he shared experiencie with a lot of musician of all the styles, so he is very famous in the musical and the popular world.

The concert was in the casino monticello, outdoor. Because of that, it was very cold, but that doesn't matter when you are listening to elite musicians. Paco played with a septet. There was a bass guitarist, a percussionist, a guy that played keyboard and harmonica, two 'cantaores', a 'bailaor' and another guitarrist. Everyone in the concert were amazed of the quality of the musicians. It was a show of a very high level, and I'm very happy to have been there. In the future the people will want to have had the opportunity to hear one of the best musicians of the twentieth century.

First Blog

 Hi!

I'm gonna talk about a country that I'd like to visit.

As probably you know, I'm a flamenco guitar student. So obviously I'd like to visit Spain. I think that it's not necessary to say where is located Spain, but if someone doesn't know, it's in the Iberian Peninsula, West of Europe, near to Portugal and France.

Guadalquivir, a river of Andalucía. (The city of the picture is Sevilla)

If I was going to Spain, it would be to study flamenco, so I have to go to a specific region that it's named Andalucía. This autonomous community of Spain is located to the South of Spain, and is the place were flamenco was born. There's a lot of guitarrists and people that live this music as a daily thing, so you can learn a lot of things that aren't in books. You have the possibility of play with 'cantaores', something you can't do in Chile, because there're very few and probably they are in the same situation as you (Studying a foreign culture).

Camarón de la Isla and Paco de Lucía, an example of the relation                                 between 'cantaores' and 'tocaores'.

I'd like to go for a limited time, but I expect that I could learn a lot if things.

I hope you liked the blog! Bye :)
